Joseph P. Nixon Emeline Hite

These were my Great Grandparents.

Note that Emeline was my mothers middle name. As the history noted he was a farmer and skilled carpenter and apparently built an imposing house about 1/2 mile north of New Mt. Pleasent.

His first house was a log house built by his father from trees on the land they acquired.

Here a picture of Emeline with Alton Hartly. He was born 1905 so I figure the picture is 1910 to 1912. I remember Alton. He had a (I think) dairy near Western Ave and Race st., or there about, and mom and I would go there and I know he was a relative but I just couldn’t get the full concept. He was the youngest son of Anna Nixon (Hartly) the 4th child of Joseph and Emiline. His twin sister Alice is the person I remember the most as she was a librarian in Portland. Her married name was Alice Brown and she lived in a large house at the end of main street that became a nursing home in the 60’s or so. She is in the foreground of this picture.

Here are all the children with my grandmother being Ida.
