The Nixon Children

Grandma Marchant’s brothers and sisters.

James Nixon trained as a teacher but spent most of his life as a builder in Portland. Elise was still living as of the mid 50’s. Alice died at 29.

Millard also trained to teach  and did so for a while but spent several years as a carpenter in Portland. They had 1 son , Howard, that went on to Earlham and Colombia where he was a professor from 1922 through the 50’s ending as head of the Advertising Division of the Graduate School of Business.

The do not seem to be any pictures of Anna Nixon even though she was the mother to all the Hartlys in Portland. It was her twins Alice and Alton that I remember from this whole group of people along with her oldest daughter Cleo.

Don’t know anything about him other than he died at age 40.

Jesse Nixon became a Doctor. When I played Dr. Chumly in the Jr. production of Harvey (which the makeup was me with white shoe polish in my hair) the older lady relatives in attendance remarked how much I looked like Dr. Nixon, which at the time meant nothing to me and today I still don’t see it.
