The 4 day weekend trip, stop #1 Beijing

We left Zhuhai on Friday the 14th to get to Beijing. We got to Mary’s sisters apartment early afternoon and had to eat a big meal, as usual.

Reviewing photo albums

After the food old photos were reviewed until Randi and Chris showed up. The did some review and then it was time to go to the restaurant for the big end of New Year festival big meal event.

There were about 30 different food things to eat such as

After the eating it was onto the subway to return home for the big fireworks extravaganza.

And then back to the hotel so we can catch the train for Xi’an in the morning.

Not a vortex thing but cold in relative terms

When you go to Zhuhai this time of year you are never sure what you will get. Could be 75 and sunny or it could be what I have got the last couple of  times, cold and rainy. Last week it was pretty much between 45 and 50 the entire time. Now that does not seem cold but with the apartments and buildings not built for that cold it is cold. The only cure is a space heater and a blanket. Here is a view from Mary’s office window last week. Not only cold and rainy but also fog and pollution. Note that you can just barely see the office building being built above the green trees between the buildings.

That is a new office building being built

After going to Bejing and Xi’an the last 4 days it should have improved. It did. It is still 45 to 50 but you can see the office building from this picture from this morning.

While I’m doing before and after here are some before and after of the apartment and factory from Maps. Here you have a shot from a year ago with the factory and the apartment marked.

See the area clear to the bottom right. That is the new apartments that  are quite nice and are advertised as the only South facing apartments in Zhuhai.
Note the big brown area above Mary’s apartment. The big office building being built in the pictures above is on the sticking out land straight up from the E in Sepstar-Eti.
Here is the picture from 2003 when Mary first came here.

The apartment was across the street from the oyster beds and the plant was built in another oyster bed. Note that the place where the new apartments are was wide open ocean.
After today the weather is to warm some and it may even be in the 60’s by the time I leave next week.
