The Wedding

I was going to develop a post to end all posts about the wedding weekend, something along the length of War and Peace. So in preparation I constructed a venn diagram between the people that might read this and the people that were at the wedding. To my surprise there was almost complete overlap indicating that the only people that might read this are, in fact, the people that were at the wedding. So with that in mind here is a quick review for those that might have forgot and a reminder that the picture sets are to the right in the galleries.
The weekend started for us with a stop in Portland for a “once in 30 years” group photograph, although as you will see we also covered the next 90 or so a few days later.

Friday brought the start of the day hanging out at the hotel waiting for nail appointments and other tasks to be completed before rehearsal and decorating.

The cottonwood tree was in full seeding mode.

By late afternoon it was time to make all the balls and hang them from the ceiling.

The marrying guy left his post in turn 2 and arrived to rehearse how to do this thing.

He got everyone all lined up and explained how everything would work,

while Mary watched from above.

After some final decorating activities it was back to the hotel for dinner and what I’ve been told was a half the night party. I can’t confirm that because like most old people we gave up before it was the next day.

There was a lot of playing of the cornhole, visiting, and relaxing during the evening.

There was picture taking such as what I think is a great picture of the newlywed couple to be and

a group photo almost as rare as the photo from Thursday.

The wedding day got into full swing about noon as people started getting dressed an planing to get to the wedding place by mid-afternoon. Here is one participant all dressed and ready.

The guys got all dressed and ready.

There was some pre-leaving picture taking.

And finally about 4:30 the wedding party  made the walk, including Michael and Kerry.

Mackenzie and I made our walk and try as much as I could to go slow it still went by too fast.

The vows were repeated and, voila, it was done.

The picture taking took about an hour which generated another rare photo.

The bride and groom make their entrance to the party.

As do Michael and Kerry.

There was cake eating.

First dance dancing.

Cheeseburger dancing.

(sorry no pictures of Trevor and Mom dancing)
Lady who has never danced before dancing.

Dancing machine dancing.

Surprisingly good dancing.

Middle age lady dancing.

They might be dancing dancing.

Asian thinking about dancing but not really doing it dancing.

And of course, Michael not dancing.

Much too soon the music stopped and the party was over. Everyone returned to the hotel and some went to bed and some didn’t.
The next day it was saying goodby to everyone and finally, about noon, every one departed for home and honeymoons. We got home late Sunday afternoon and to Mary’s delight the peonies and roses were in bloom and there was wine in the refrigerator to bring to an end what was a perfect weekend.
