An amazing Marlin Perkins moment

Today was the annual trim the bushes day. While cutting the bush from hell in the back corner area of the house I had a genuine Marlin Perkins moment, although it was not a moment where I sent Jim to go wrestle the creature or anything like that. For those that don’t know Marlin Perkins here he is remembering along with Jim some of their greatest adventures.

My run in with the wild kingdom was just as memorable. You will see here what I encountered.

This wild creature seemed very happy watching me sweat my ass off. You can tell by his face.

Magnificent medical month of May is over

Beginning on May 8 and ending on June 9 the Medical May is over.

With the delivery today of Sicong and Mary to the airport the month is over. Medical May  was almost extended because of visa coverage, Canada, and dumb rules countries have implemented over the last decade making it so Sicong could not fly back through Canada which required changing up destinations and flight times. But they are both in the air (according to flight aware at 30000 feet) and heading to Hong Kong on different flights and then for Sicong on to Bejing.
During the month many many miles were put on the car.

6205.1 miles to be exact.Consisting of
NY City
7 trips to Muncie (I think)
4 trips to O’hare
Bunch of trips to the grocery.
During the Month Randy got her MD degree and learned the secret AMA handshake. Sicong had her holey lungs repaired. Mary had her ‘welcome to middle age’ colonoscopy (Available on BLU-RAY fall 2012). Randi went to Istanbul to buy ottomans, Mary went to Poland and Italy for a week and I had to buy a new lawn mower because the 20 year old mower died.
Mary has to have minor surgery next month so she will be back and I wont be going to China this summer. She will head back to China probably early August about the time Sicong returns for year 2 at the big Ball U. Mackenzie and Trevor did a week trip to NY City and Indiana and Michael might have left his apartment once or twice.
What a month.

Sisters discuss Sicong digging a hole.

Sunday morning Mary and her sister YuPing spent some time discussing (at least as far as I could tell from my limited Chinese) the need for Sicong to dig a hole in the back yard.

As everyone knows this is standard rehabilitation therapy after having holey lungs repaired.

As you can see Sicong’s mother is happy with this idea.

Arizona residents visit Michigan and experience water falling from sky.

Two Arizona residents visited and experienced rain for the first time.

During most of their overnight stay it was raining. While Mackenzie had some vague recollections of rain Trevor found it quite interesting. Apparently it had never rained in Arizona (well maybe once in 1998 but it could also have been vulture pee).
They were passing through after spending Memorial day weekend in NY staying in Dr. Huo’s apartment while she is in Istanbul buying ottomans. They left here to head to West Lafayette to sleep on Michael’s uncomfortable futon and attend a wedding of Mackenzie’s old roommate.
Just before leaving we took the, as required by law, departing picture.

The happy couple has now returned to the dry desert wasteland.

The lungs are no longer filled with holes but the medical industry is richer

The holey Jesus Christ lungs have been repaired and ♫ now we know how many holes it takes to fill ….♫ (somewhat obscure Beatles reference). After 10 days in the big Ball U hospital Sicong was released to continue her life, and pay medical bills. The main thing that I learned that I did not know about the medical industry before is that,  as evidenced in the photo below taken in the parking lot of the big Ball U hospital upon release, it is now policy to steal your shoes. (In fact they were flip flop type things not really shoes)

NOTE. Upon arrival home the shoes were found and we suspect that her newly minted Dr. cousin (who is currently in Istanbul buying ottomans) in an attempt to impress the AMA ,stole them and brought them home, or didn’t take them to her, or something.

Something for the younger set

Ran across this band the other day and I didn’t know the youngin’s know how to play music like this anymore. From what I gather 6 months ago they were playing local bars in Alabama. I ‘m sure all the young hip people have already heard of them but they have not played the old folks home yet.

The lead singer has a bit of Janice Joplin. And a little bit Al Green. See the next one.

And finally a catchy little tune.

I read their live show is pretty good.
